Expo Cerveza Artesanal 2011

This is the first edition of “Expo Cerveza Artesanal 2011”, it was an honor to be able to taste that much craft beer, and even better that most of it was brewed by Baja brewers, This is by far the best beer expo I’ve attended in the state. Everything was just perfect, the music, the brewers, security and of course the opportunities that were given to the breweries were unbeatable. The stand for local brewers was practically free, plus all the winning were the brewers to keep. The cover fee was also super cheap; hundred and fifty pesos for a 2oz glass and a tasting for each brewery, that was enough for me to end up wasted.

The Breweries: approximately nighty percent of the breweries were form Baja California, every brewer on the state was there, from micro breweries like Tijuana and Cucapá to Home brewers Like Ave Fenix a organic home brewery from the malts to the Irish moss. Cervecería Insurgente brewed an amazing anniversary Black IPA called “Nocturna” this beer had a perfect balance between the malts and bitterness of the hops, this beer was poured through a hop filter right before serving it. For us the winner of the night was “La Libertina” a Belgian Strong Ale from  Monastika Cerveceria; Even dough it had ten percent ABV it also had some non fermented sugars and a great combination of malts that made it easy to drink without sacrificing any of the taste of a Belgian Ale. Also form Monastika “Pablo Porter” was one of the best in its kind at the event.

  1. Nice post. I learn something more challenging on different blogs everyday. It will always be stimulating to read content from other writers and practice a little something from their store. I’d prefer to use some with the content on my blog whether you don’t mind. Natually I’ll give you a link on your web blog. Thanks for sharing.

  2. Thank you for another essential article. Where else could anyone get that kind of information in such a complete way of writing? I have a presentation incoming week, and I am on the lookout for such information.
